Why

“Wellness is more than being free from illness – it is a dynamic process of change and growth, a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”

This journey never ends

This site is a share of ideas and practices that have lead me on a path to improving my overall wellness (see success for definition) and that is its only goal – to share that journey.   I do not believe in any one way, any one product or one panacea.  I am not selling a book or advertising.  You will likely loose weight; you will relieve symptoms of diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, asthma or other illnesses or allergies.  You will reduce your risk of stroke, heart disease, cancer and Alzheimers.  You will most probably have more energy, be fitter and more productive.

However, these are not a weight loss plans or get-fit-quick formulas, they are guides, suggestions and road maps for you to embark on a journey and that personal journey, made of many small steps and consistent small improvements in mind, body and practices is your never ending journey of improved wellness.

None of us know what tomorrow will bring but you can use these pages to chart your way to a happier, healthier and more productive life now and well in to old age – and have fun doing so.  Wellness is not the answer to long life itself but the cure to being happier and healthier through the one we are given – no limits.  It is about finding your way to feel better, to look better… to be better.  Not through abstinence or hardship (although some parts will present challenges) but through knowledge, understanding and acceptance.  You will not want to look back – or go back.

When I was 40 I was started on blood pressure medication for hypertension.  It was implied by all those around me that, that was it for the rest of my life – that medication or probably at some point stronger medication.  I stopped taking that medication about eighteen months into my journey – you can read more on about me.

While modern medicine performs many wondrous fixes with regards to trauma we have come to accept high blood pressure, diabetes and other more serious (but in many cases preventable) illnesses as an accepted part of ‘growing older’ and various maintenance medications as the ‘norm’ – The focus is on treating rather than preventing chronic illness and this is not right.  Modern medicine fails to tackle chronic illnesses at their cause or root – the balance of diet, sleep, lifestyle, activity and mental well-being.  If you suffer any of the fore mentioned  illnesses – or other more nondescript but none-the-less life draining issues such as lethargy, poor sleep, bowl or stomach issues, headaches and alike – you can free yourself of many such symptoms by practicing better wellness habits.

This site is about learning to look after yourself, if it helps one person on their journey I will be happy.
I hope that person is you.
